With a background in archaeology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and hands-on participation in the 2024 Ophel Archaeological Dig near the Temple Mount, Dr Roach brings unparalleled historical and spiritual insight to every tour. As President of Axx Bible College, he blends deep biblical knowledge with practical ministry, ensuring each location is not just visited but truly understood.

ITINERARY

Depart Australia late evening if you are flying Emirates via Dubai.

Arrive Tel Aviv late morning. On arrival, if you have purchased flights with Selah, you will be met and transferred to Jerusalem with a short stop at the Mount of Olives for a spectacular first view over the Holy City of Jerusalem. If our rooms are ready, we will check in. If not we will spend some time at the Western Wall Plaza.

Dinner together at our hotel.

After breakfast, we will travel to Bethlehem and visit the Church of Nativity (security permitting).
Return to the Old City in Jerusalem to the Davidson Archaeological Park and Southern Steps of the Temple.
After lunch we visit the City of David including Hezekiah’s Tunnel, an under the city waterway built by King Hezekiah around 710BC connecting the Gihon Spring with the Pool of Siloam.

Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Begin the day with a walk across Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, taking in breathtaking panoramic views of the Old City before descending past significant biblical sites. Conclude the walk at St. Peter in Galicantu, the traditional site of Peter’s denial of Jesus. Then, explore the fascinating underground passageways of the Western Wall Tunnel, gaining a deeper understanding of Jerusalem’s ancient history.

Begin the day with a visit to the peaceful Garden Tomb, a site of reflection and worship that depicts the burial and resurrection place of Jesus. Continue to Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, uncovering the history of the Essene community. Then, explore the lush oasis of En Gedi, a refuge in the Judean wilderness where David once hid from King Saul.

Today we farewell Jerusalem and travel south to the Dead Sea. Today we visit Masada, a powerful journey through history, breathtaking landscapes, and remarkable archaeology. Perched atop a rugged plateau. that we reach by cable car, overlooking the Dead Sea. Masada was the site of King Herod’s magnificent desert fortress and later became a symbol of Jewish resilience after the last stand of Jewish rebels against the Romans in 73 AD.
Upon return to the hotel enjoy a float in the Dead Sea.

After breakfast we say goodbye to Southern Israel and travel north towards Galilee. Along the way we will stop at Jericho (security permitting) before we continue to Beat Shean, one of the oldest cities in Israel.
Beat Shean was part of the Decapolis and a major centre of Greco-Roman culture in Jesus’ time. Biblically, it is known as the place where the Philistines displayed the bodies of King Saul and his sons after their defeat on Mount Gilboa (1 Samuel 31). Walking through its well-preserved ruins—including a grand theatre, colonnaded streets, bathhouses, and a marketplace—provides a vivid picture of life in ancient times. The site offers a unique opportunity to reflect on the contrast between the power of earthly empires and God’s eternal kingdom.

Spend the day exploring the heart of Jesus’ Galilean ministry. Visit Capernaum, known as the "Town of Jesus," where He taught in the synagogue and performed many miracles. Reflect on the Sermon on the Mount at the Church of the Beatitudes, overlooking the Sea of Galilee. Continue to Tabgha, the traditional site of Jesus’ miraculous feeding of the 5,000, and visit the Church of the Primacy of St. Peter, where Jesus reinstated Peter after the resurrection. Discover the ancient ruins of Sussita, a city of the Decapolis, offering stunning views and historical insights. Conclude the day with a meaningful visit to the River Jordan baptism site, a special opportunity for spiritual reflection and renewal.

Today we experience the beauty and serenity of the Sea of Galilee with a peaceful boat cruise, recalling the many moments Jesus shared with His disciples on these waters. Visit the Jesus Boat at the Yigal Allon Museum, an ancient fishing boat from the time of Christ, offering a glimpse into first-century life on the lake. Conclude the day in Magdala, the hometown of Mary Magdalene, where you’ll explore a beautifully preserved first-century synagogue—one of the oldest in Galilee—and reflect on Jesus’ ministry in this region.

Journey through the biblical and historical landscapes of northern Israel. Begin at Tel Dan, an ancient city with deep biblical significance, where you’ll explore the remains of the Israelite gate and the high place mentioned in the Old Testament. Continue to Caesarea Philippi, where Peter proclaimed Jesus as the Messiah (Matthew 16:13-20), and reflect on the powerful moment that shaped Christian faith. Ascend to the Golan Heights, a region rich in history and natural beauty, offering panoramic views of Israel and neighboring countries. Conclude the day with a relaxing visit to a local winery, enjoying the flavours of the land in a setting that blends history, culture, and hospitality.

Step into the world of Jesus’ childhood in Nazareth, beginning with a visit to Nazareth Village, a living history site that recreates first-century life with authentic homes, tools, and agricultural practices. Gain insight into the daily experiences of Jesus and His early years. Continue to Sepphoris, an ancient city just a few miles from Nazareth, known for its stunning mosaics and Greco-Roman influence—offering a glimpse into the world that shaped Jesus’ upbringing. Conclude the day at Mount Arbel, where you’ll take in breathtaking panoramic views of the Sea of Galilee and reflect on Jesus’ ministry in the region.

Our last day exploring the rich biblical and historical significance of northern Israel. Begin at Megiddo, an ancient city that played a strategic role in biblical history and is identified with the prophesied Battle of Armageddon (Revelation 16:16). Continue to Mount Carmel, where Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal and called down fire from heaven (1 Kings 18), reflecting on God’s power and faithfulness. Then, visit the impressive ruins of Caesarea, the grand port city built by Herod the Great, where Paul was imprisoned and preached the gospel before being sent to Rome. Walk along the Caesarea Aqueduct, a marvel of Roman engineering that once supplied fresh water to the city. Conclude the journey with a special departure meal in Tel Aviv, sharing final reflections and fellowship before heading home.
