With a background in archaeology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and hands-on participation in the 2024 Ophel Archaeological Dig near the Temple Mount, Dr Roach brings unparalleled historical and spiritual insight to every tour. ITINERARY
Depart Australia late evening to Tel Aviv.

Arrive Tel Aviv late morning. On arrival, if you have purchased flights with Selah, you will be met and transferred to Jerusalem with a short stop at the Mount of Olives for a spectacular first view over the Holy City of Jerusalem. Continue to the Western Wall Plaza & underground to the tunnels, the site of the original temple wall.

After breakfast, we will travel to Bethlehem and visit the Church of Nativity (security permitting).
Return to the Old City in Jerusalem to the Davidson Archaeological Park and Southern Steps of the Temple.
After lunch we visit the City of David including Hezekiah’s Tunnel, an under the city waterway built by King Hezekiah around 710BC connecting the Gihon Spring with the Pool of Siloam.
Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Begin the day with a walk across Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, taking in breathtaking panoramic views of the Old City before descending past significant biblical sites including the Garden of Gethsemane, Via Dolorosa & the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Conclude the walk at St. Peter in Galicantu, the traditional site of Peter’s denial of Jesus.

Today is a leisurely day with the option of visiting the Gardeon Tomb in the morning for a time of prayer & reflection. You then have the remainder of the day free to spend walking around the Old City, or perhaps visit the Israel museum (by tram) or Yad Vashem - the holocaust museum. You could enjoy lunch at the Yehuda Market. Dinner is not included tonight so you can eat locally.

Today we check out of our Jerusalem hotel and travel to the Judean desert, with a stop at Wadi Qelt. Security permitting, we will visit the oldest inhabited city in the world, Jericho. Continue to the town of Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, uncovering the history of the Essene community. Then, explore the lush oasis of En Gedi, a refuge in the Judean wilderness where David once hid from King Saul (1 Samuel 23-24).

Today we visit the Masada fortress built by King Herod, a powerful journey through history, breathtaking landscapes, and remarkable archaeology. Perched atop a rugged plateau. that we reach by cable car (or option to leave early & walk up), overlooking the Dead Sea. Masada was the site of King Herod’s magnificent desert fortress and later became a symbol of Jewish resilience after the last stand of Jewish rebels against the Romans in 73 AD.

After breakfast we say goodbye to Southern Israel and travel north towards Galilee.
Our first visit is to Beer Sheva, one of Israel's most significant biblical sites, where Abraham, Isaac and Jacob encountered God, making it a powerful place for Christians to reflect on God's covenant and faithfulness. It is also remembered for the heroic ANZAC Light Horse charge during the Battle of Beersheba in 1917, a defining moment in Australian military history.
We then travel to Nazareth and step into the world of Jesus’ childhood in Nazareth, beginning with a visit to Nazareth Village, a living history site that recreates first-century life with authentic homes, tools, and agricultural practices. Gain insight into the daily experiences of Jesus and His early years.
Continue to Sepphoris, an ancient city just a few miles from Nazareth, known for its stunning mosaics and Greco-Roman influence—offering a glimpse into the world that shaped Jesus’ upbringing. Conclude the day at Mount Arbel, where you’ll take in breathtaking panoramic views of the Sea of Galilee and reflect on Jesus’ ministry in the region.

Visit the Jesus Boat at the Yigal Allon Museum, an ancient fishing boat from the time of Christ, offering a glimpse into first-century life on the lake. Reflect on the Sermon on the Mount at the Church of the Beatitudes, overlooking the Sea of Galilee. Our last day exploring the rich biblical and historical significance of northern Israel. Begin at Megiddo, an ancient city that played a strategic role in biblical history and is identified with the prophesied Battle of Armageddon (Revelation 16:16). Continue to Mount Carmel, where Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal and called down fire from heaven (1 Kings 18), reflecting on God’s power and faithfulness. Then, visit the impressive ruins of Caesarea, the grand port city built by Herod the Great, where Paul was imprisoned and preached the gospel before being sent to Rome. Walk along the Caesarea Aqueduct, a marvel of Roman engineering that once supplied fresh water to the city.

Today we travel to Tel Lachish, one of ancient Judah's most important fortified cities, where the dramatic archaeological remains vividly illustrate the biblical accounts of the Assyrian invasion under King Sennacherib (2 Kings 18–19). Continue to the Valley of Elah, the setting of David's famous victory over Goliath (1 Samuel 17), where the landscape brings one of Scripture's most memorable stories to life. As you stand in these historic locations, you'll gain a deeper appreciation of God's faithfulness throughout Israel's history and the biblical events that shaped the nation. Return to Tel Aviv for our final dinner together.

Enjoy a full day to explore “the rose - red city” of Petra which from 300 BC was inhabited by Nabateans. Take a horse ride through the dramatic “siq” or canyon. See the Treasury, carved in the pink stone, and continue past the Roman theatre, the Corinthian Tomb and Palace Tomb to the Roman road. Climb up to the High Place or the Deir or Monastery. Dinner and overnight in Petra.
