OVERVIEW

If you are interested in walking in the footsteps of Jesus, sailing Galilee, discovering lost cities, experiencing fascinating cultures, having fun with new friends and falling in love with the places of the Bible, then this trip is for you!
Andrew and Karen’s goal for this trip is “To give an opportunity for people to enjoy significant, impacting and spiritually enriching pilgrimage, but this time at a more relaxed pace – and as always, to have a blast doing it!”.
Take a journey though Israel, Jordan and Egypt to discover the Holy Land and walk in the Sacred Steps of the Bible.

Andrew and Karen Moreton

Andrew and Karen’s love affair with the Middle East started in 2008 when Karen was given a trip by her parents. Karen found the experience so life changing that soon afterwards she and Andrew travelled together to Egypt, Jordan, Israel and Turkey. Andrew also found walking quite literally in the footsteps of Jesus to be a life affirming experience, and since then, both Andrew and Karen have remained convinced of the value of taking others to the places of Jesus, the Bible, history and faith. This will be their 5th tour to the Holy Lands and their 6th Selah tour.

Andrew is a GP, medical educator and passionate Bible teacher. Karen is a palliative care nurse and devotional author. As well as serving for 15 years in Cornerstone Community and raising awesome kids, they continue to be involved in discipleship, Bible teaching, mentoring, holistic health care, loving Jesus and loving life. They live in Dubbo NSW, attend their local Church of Christ and can’t wait to share their next Middle Eastern adventure with you!

It has been said The Middle East is the epicentre of the World, Israel is the epicentre of the Middle East, Jerusalem is the epicentre of Israel, and the Old City is the epicentre of Jerusalem. So today we explore the epicentre of the World!
We pray at the Western wall, with a choice to sit and rest and have unhurried time at this prominent site – the more active can explore the underground Western wall tunnels. We will then ascend the temple mount (Via ramp) to visit where the Dome of the Rock sits and where the ancient temple once stood.
Rest stop at the Austrian Hospice and enjoy their hospitality in a hidden tranquil café garden in the middle of the Old City.
We then walk the authentic streets of Jesus time in the Davidson Archaeological Park. Did you know Neil Armstrong said walking these Hulda steps that Jesus himself walked to enter the temple, was more significant walk to him than walking on the moon!

For our last day in Jerusalem – it is a full day of walking and exploring some of Jerusalem’s less accessible but most fascinating sites, guided by Andrew & Karen.
The morning is spent discovering the 3000-year-old City of David, including the underground Warren’s shaft and Hezekiah’s Water Tunnel which exits at the pool of Siloam.
We then walk from City of David up to Mount Zion to circumnavigate the Old City atop the ancient Ramparts walls. Then get a great overview of Israel's history at the Tower of David Museum. We lunch in the Old City (own expense) followed by visiting the room of the last supper (tomorrow is Passover) and King David’s tomb. Enjoy some free time to walk the Cardo and some shopping, before returning to the hotel for dinner.

For those wishing to have a day of rest, you have the choice of staying at your accommodation to relax, or perhaps choose your own adventure! You can ask the concierge to order you a taxi and go and people watch in the lobby lounge of the King David Hotel where statesman and politicians stay when brokerage peace in the Middle East. Or head to Yad Vashem – Israel’s famed holocaust museum. Maybe even read through the gospels in the place that much of it happened. Have an easy day because there are many more adventures still to come.
